Synergistic Effect of WS2 and Micro-Textures to Inhibit Graphitization and Delamination of Micro-Nano Diamond-Coated Tools

Diamond-coated tools often fail due to coating graphitization and delamination caused by poor adhesion, large contact stress, thermochemical reactions. To address these issues, this research utilized a combination of micro-nano double-layer diamond coating, WS2 micro-textures. The inhibits the through transfer film mechanism, while micro-textures nanocrystalline store WS2, resulting in prolonged lubrication life. Additionally, influence micro-texture on coating-substrate residual stress mechanical interlocking was discussed, it proved that proper effectively improve adhesion. Under same cutting flux conditions, taking peeling as judging standard, distance textured WS2/Micro-Nano tool is more than three times ordinary, diamond-coated tools, which greatly improves service life tool.
